My Future Project

So, recently I've been making a few observations about the future of sprite comics. Or rather, how sprite comic sites are doing in general. For the most part, sprite comic sites tend to get a lot of good traffic because they're more diversified, but they've been declining recently. Some of my favorite comics like Sonic and Pals and Heroes Inc. as well as sites like DrShnaps & Mystic Forest Zone aren't seeing a whole lot of action recently for various reasons. It's a shame to me because I felt like I've really grown up on sprite comics and I've met a lot of different people through these networks and picked up a lot of wisdom from these comics. Indirectly, of course. I know very few sprite comics that actually teach things.

But I digress. The point is that sprite comic sites are declining and it's really a shame. That's what my project is. When Drshnaps closed down for a bit, the admin got us all websites so we could continue our comics and do what we want with the sites (don't ask him for one though, he's not giving these out). Originally I wanted to just create a site for the comic, but then I had a great idea.

Create another sprite comic site. A site for great sprite authors to post their stuff just like Drshnaps was. Hopefully from there I can get some affiliates with some of the 'top' sprite comics and from there some sprite authors and I will make ourselves a great site.

However, I can't do it alone. I'm going to need some authors soon enough, and when I learn all the code and Drshnaps gives me the control, I'll start the recruiting process.

Let me repeat myself. I AM NOT ASKING FOR HELP AT THIS TIME. Once everything's ready to get set up, I'll put up a whole rule list of things I'm looking for in authors and their comics, as well as what I'm completely fine with as far as a comic and other things like that. Trust me, when everything's up and running, you'll know. I even have a few authors in mind who I want on my team (though I'm hoping they'd like to be on mine...).

Until then, if you're interested, it won't hurt to make yourself look good. I will say right now that I don't care about the length of your comic or even if you're thinking about starting one at the moment, nor do I care the genre, what sprites you use, etc. I'll post the full list of qualifications soon enough.

There is one thing though. I'm still undecided whether or not I'll leave Smack Jeeves to do so. I think when I get my team together, we'll decide on that as a group, but for now... I'm not sure. Again, I'll let you know.

Oh, and I do have something up online already, but due to reasons of construction and all, I'll keep that secret until it's presentable.

Stay cool guys. Can't wait to see how this goes.

Wow Afro, Sounds awesome. I'd love to be apart of this if you can get this all done. But I think you should stay one smackjeeves, (Puppy Dawg Eyes)

Sounds excellent. Oh, and I think I know why sprite comics are falling faster than Galliphrey:
1) Little spriters help new oneswho have suckish comics.
2) Some of the sites with a lot of spriters HATE spriters.

Epic, I'll totally look into this. Which reminds me, I really need to get back to work on my sprites. Expect an application from me when you're taking them.

I'd love to be in on this.

I don't really know how to, as you put it, make myself look good, but I'll try. Looking forward to those qualifications.

A comment on that affiliation with other big sites:

One thing you could do, is aim for an affiliation with Smackjeeves. That way you could remain here, as well as keep the site going.

That sounds like a fantastic project and I hope that it goes well.

I would recommend that when you start of you keep the comic up on Smackjeeves at least until you start getting some traffic.

Best of luck in your project, hope you succeed!
